Pixel Pile #1274: Southern Lady 8

This "Southern Lady" is actually a one fifth scale replica of the Statue of Liberty, complete with a real flaming torch, located in Birmingham, Alabama.

If you'd like to buy a print of this image, it may already be on sale at PhotoDude Labs. If it isn't, e-mail me to have it added.

Photodude, very cool pictures. They caught my eye because I was at Liberty Island in NY last Saturday. Unfortunately it was raining, so the camera wasn't in hand!

Thanks, Jarret. Birmingham is half way between Atlanta and where my parents live, so I usually get two cracks at the weather and sky background. On the way over, there were cloudless blue skies, and the flame was crankin'. On the way back, the clouds were more interesting ... but the flame was off. It might have been because it was Sunday, or because the whole area seems to be under renovation. I couldn't actually get into the park on either stop, only shoot from outside.

The flame was off, thats odd. I guess it isn't one of those eternal flame things. Someday when I work in New York, maybe I'll get an assignment that sends me up to the flame of Lady Liberty herself!
