Pixel Pile #1072: In Memory 1

Even a year later, there is still some uncertainty about the final death toll of September 11. For now, the consensus seems to be that 2,801 died in New York, and another 224 in Pennsylvania and Washington, for a total of 3,025.

If each of these small squares, the "holes" in the flag, represented a single life, this one image is but a quarter of that toll. These four images together, Pixel Piles #1072, #1073, #1074, and #1075, contain a combined 3,025 holes, each hole representing the dark empty space left behind by the murder of just one of those lost, on 9-11-01.

We will never forget.
