'Tude, slang for attitude, noun ....
a : a mental position, feeling, or emotion toward a fact or state
b : a negative or hostile state of mind
c : a cocky or arrogant manner
d : all of the above, on a page at PhotoDude.com

This is kind of a "catch-all" section, in that it contains a variety of older articles, but they all are tied by a slightly *editorial* nature, and probably reveals more about me than I care to think about. Basically, it was a place for me to "vent" before I started a weblog. Run, while you still can....

You know, we all need a place to vent. Sometimes, when I hear about some disgruntled civil servant going bezerk with an automatic weapon, I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have been different if they'd had some other way to articulate their frustrations .... to vent!

In this section, I try to set a good example. Hopefully as a result you won't read about me on the front page. Consider it online self therapy.

In addition to the stated Attitudes and my web log, this section contains the answer to the questions you see at the bottom of each page....

Just "who is PhotoDude?"
and/or
Just "what is PhotoDude.com?"

And even though it's slightly out of place here, I've placed a small collection of odd pages I've made over the years that might be best categorized as "resources." For the most part, they may only be of interest to those involved in web design. You'll find them below.

Resources
[....of a questionable and possibly outdated nature. Only of interest to web geeks like me]

So You Want to Build an Olympic Web Page? Some Unsolicited Advice.... - For anyone from the Sydney area who might be toying with the idea of building an Olympic diary online.

AV Photo Finder - How To Keep Your Photos Unfound - This page was created to compile various ways to keep your sites images out of the AltaVista's Photo Finder database. The page has not been updated in some time, but the techniques described are still valid.

.PNG Test - The Portable Network Graphic is one of my great hopes for the future of the web, as it is a 24bit format that supports sophisticated transparency, and can be imbedded with info like gamma values. Unfortunately, browser support is lagging. This page will show what forms of .PNG your browser supports.

Graphics to Fight Bandwidth Abusers - There are some evil souls out there who will steal your copyrighted JPEG or GIF, and to add insult to injury, often they will code their page so the graphic is drawn off your server space.

Today's 'Tude
[Now, you don't really expect me to write these daily, do you? This is just what's on the page today]

My Digital Year; Palms, Cells, Cams & Blogs [December 30, '00] - A Neanderthal looks back with jaw drooping.

Recent 'Tudes
[An archive of stuff moved from row A to row B]

Fat Lady Sings; Court Asked to Stop Her [December 13, '00] - My wrap up piece on Electile Dysfunction 2000.

Tortured by Beta Browsers [August 8, '00] in which I whine about two new preview releases, Netscape 6.0 PR2, and Mozilla M17.

Citizens of Me-Ville: the Special People [July 23, '00] "Their time is more important than yours. After all, they're Special. They're from Me-ville, where the whole world revolves around them."

Retrospective Essay: The Olympics, 4 years later [July 15, '00] as well as a page of unsolicited advice for anyone from the Sydney area who might be toying with the idea of building an Olympic diary online.

Goin' Down to the Crossroads, to get my Redesign [July 1, '00] in which a well intentioned man is beaten down by the browser wars.

Original 'Tudes
[I had attitude long before I had a computer]

The Original Attitude - This is so strange. When I began thinking about this section, I wished I had saved my first "Letter to the Editor", published in March 1974, when I was 15 years old, in response to a streaking incident at my high school .... [MORE]

Dear. Mr. President - A rave from the days when the WWW was in its infancy, and being a computer owner was way down my list of priorities. But even then, I needed to vent .... [MORE]

That Ain't Rock & Roll, and I Don't Like It - This one is far more current, inspired by a local radio station's abuse of Richard Jewell .... [MORE]
